On May 31-May 2024 in the Kyrgyz-German Institute “Protection of ecosystems and biodiversity in the Kyrgyz Republic” at KNAU named after K.I. Skryabin was held a seminar on the theme: “Conservation through use: Concepts of biodiversity conservation through sustainable use of natural resources on the example of Asian wild apple trees”, within the framework of the project “Sustainable regional management and value creation for the conservation of ancient apple varieties in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan ‘ALMA-KIKA’, implemented with financial support from the Federal Environmental Fund Ge The seminar was attended by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of KNAU, Professor A. Irgashev, General Director of NETSCI GmbH, head of the project “ALMA-KIKA”, Professor, Dr. Matthias Kramer, Head of Hochstam Deutschland Office Dr. Hannes Bürkmann, Head of Neulandplus Regional Office Sofia Philipp, representatives of government agencies and NGOs.
During the workshop, the issues of conservation and protection of biodiversity of nut and fruit forests of Kyrgyzstan were discussed. The workshop participants actively participated in the open discussion.
